TruAIR® is Arnott's® air suspension system, designed and tuned specifically for motorcycles. With an onboard compressor you set the suspension to suit you, your luggage and the road, without swapping springs or reaching for tools.
How TruAIR® works
- An air spring instead of a steel spring. The motorcycle is carried by compressed air, so the firmness of the suspension can be changed.
- Onboard compressor. A built-in compressor adds air when you want firmer suspension or a higher ride height.
- Simple control. The compressor is operated with a switch, so you adjust right on the motorcycle.
- Adjustable damping. The shock valving can be set together with the air pressure.
Accessories such as the switch, pressure gauge and mounting kits are in our Accessories category.
Benefits of TruAIR®
Comfort
The suspension is matched to the rider's height and weight. According to Arnott®, you can set it so you stand flat-footed when stopped.
Load and passenger
Raise the pressure for two-up riding or luggage, and lower it again when riding solo.
Quick setup
According to Arnott®, finding the right setting takes minutes rather than days or weeks of trial and error.
Handling
From soft to firm with the same components. Arnott® highlights better control in evasive manoeuvres and spirited riding.
Built for motorcycles
TruAIR® is developed for motorcycles, not adapted from car parts. According to Arnott®, the fender still clears the tire when the air sleeve is fully deflated.
How it compares to other solutions (according to Arnott®)
This is how Arnott® compares TruAIR® with three other ways of getting adjustable or air-assisted suspension. The comparison and images are from Arnott®.
Automotive designed
- Bushings need to be modified for motorcycles
- No internal bump stop
- Lower-grade plastic air connectors
- Metal-to-metal contact when bottomed out
- Crimping subject to failure
- Weak rubber sleeves
- Older twin-tube damper
- Weak eyelet welds can fail
OE air-assisted
- No onboard compressor (can't adjust quickly)
- Only holds 50 psi (more will blow the seal)
- Steel spring in oil (not an air spring)
- Older twin-tube damper
- Limited height adjustability (spring preload cannot be eliminated)
Air canister/cylinder
- No shock/damper suspension (motion is not controlled)
- Air cylinder only (only raises and lowers the bike)
- Severe topping out over bumps
- Complex air line plumbing
